This is a short post about a very easy hike we took, just on the outskirts of Gunnison, Colorado. This trail was along the Gunnison River, so we knew it would be at lower elevations and relatively flat. At these Colorado altitudes this made the hike a manageable one for Steve.
Lush vegetation grows on both banks of the river here. It also provided some very nice shade along the trail.
Gari pauses at the trail-head to review the local information.
The starting point didn't look like much for a trail that is close to town and rated as handicapped accessible...
Very quickly it opened up to a nice wide and flat trail surface nicely bordered by stones.
We passed on man fly fishing in the river along the trail. We caught him changing flies in the middle of the river. That is one thing Steve noticed about fly fishing while out here; there seems to be way more standing around talking, getting into the gear, preparing the tackle, tying on flies, etc. than there is actual fishing!
Gari peeks out onto the river at a clearing along it's bank.
We found a small seldom used path that led from the main trail down to a little beach area. We walked around down there and took in the beauty for a bit.
Ahhhh... something about being down on a river... that peaceful ongoing flowing...
Steve tiptoes out across some small rocks.
Gari captured a small fall warbler feeding along the river bank with her zoom lens.
