Rapid City, South Dakota our new home town
We have been excited to return to Rapid. Fortunately our repairs in Kansas took a little longer than expected and helped us miss a late season blizzard here that dumped ~15" of snow at the park we are in now. Our new neighbors Jake and Tammy told us about the storm. We missed that storm by a little more than a week! The snow didn't last long, but at that depth one day is too long for me! We do love this area and city when the weather is more civilized ;-) The surrounding Black Hills area has so many different and wonderful things to offer, and Rapid City itself is so young vibrant and alive, we love it! The Main Street Square downtown Rapid puts on over 200 events each year! We went and listened to a Beatles tribute band Abbey Road last night. It was great fun and was free!We traveled from Central Kansas to Rapid City via Western Nebraska. This is a little town in Nebraska that we wet through where you get replacement wagon wheels for your wagon :-)
We found a super little RV Park just north of Rapid City. It is on a small cattle ranch owned and operated by Dennis and Ann. We love it here! Great prices, full services, close to town, but far enough out to be silent day and night :-)
Looking in the Lazy JD front gate... this place reminds us of Cloverland Ranch! They even have the same gate actuator out front here.
Looking in from the front pasture. Just two rigs in the park, Penelope is on the left. Our neighbors Jake and Tammy are local Rapid City folks working in the area.
A greater perspective from the front.
That's us all set up on Lot N.
Long pull through sites.
The utilitiy side all neat and connected.
Next door we met some curious horse friends. The guy I am scratching had a serious injury to his left front knee, but he was getting around just fine.
Farther up the hill we saw a small cattle farm with some awesome looking cattle. Turns out these handsome specimens are rodeo bucking bulls! While on a walk last week we saw the rancher who stopped and asked us if we had seen 2 of his 3 white bulls, they got out! Luckily we had not crossed their path!
Then we came to the end of the road, where we could see Bear Butte in the distance, but decided it would be prudent to stop here.
Thursday night promised a free concert at the City Square; a Beatles tribute band called Abbey Road. We had to walk through Art Alley to get to the square from our parking spot. It was totally cool, several Alley Muscians were playing along the way in the alley.
