Moving to Utah...

This year has included a plethora of moving days as a result of engaging in a 6,700 mile 2016 loop.   We planned to pull chocks from Rapid City on Friday 9/9, but woke up to rain and winds building to 40 mph.  Steve sure did not want to go outside and perform the outside tasks and Gari wasn't interested in driving our 31,000 lb rig in weather like that.  We happily decided to wait a day and try again on Saturday.  That worked out great; Saturday was sunny and cool with less wind, but still blowing in the 20s mph.

Below is our month long home at Lazy JD Ranch & RV Park, which was our starting point for this move.  Penelope is the tan rig second from the left.
We took the northern route around the Black Hills and saw this Beechcraft Twin Engine Bonanza airplane mounted as a wind vane on a pole 70 feet above the ground along I-90 near Sundance, WY.  The antique airplane was erected by Mick and Jean Quaal.  Even the propellers turned on this most fancy wind sock!
At Gillette, WY we turned south and the winds shifted from the west to the south.  We were just going to buck head winds all the way to our first stop in Casper, WY.
As we traveled south to Casper, we observed many, many oil well operations....
We also saw a lot of snow stop fencing, cattle, horses and Prong Horn Antelope...  below are a few cattle getting all into the snow stop fence.
More snow stop on the Wyoming landscape.  We bet the Wyoming winters are cold!

All these critters eat hay, so there was one hay operation after another...  These are the giant rectangular bales; that's a lot of hay!
This lot below includes a few giant round bales too.
Then  we crossed the state line into Utah for our first time ever.  We were greeted by a hungry looking Allosaurus fragilis.
Utah has mountains and these are part of Dinosaur National Monument which is situated in both Colorado and Utah.
We are excited to finally see Utah.
Utah has 12,000 ft mountains and that is plenty big enough for us.
We originally thought we would stay in Vernal, Utah but liked the smaller Jensen, Utah located right at a western entrance to the Dinosaur National Monument.  We easily found a spot at the Outlaw Trail RV Park.
When we arrived at Outlaw, we near about had the place to ourselves.
We can see one of the Dinosaur Monument mountains from the park.
You can see the bath house behind Pepé our truck.  More campers are starting to arrive as the week marches on.
We have already started to explore this fascinating area and will be sharing sights and learning from the Dinosaur National Monument on our next post.
