Gari is at it again, she found a new to us trail in the Sheep Creek area. The Sheep Creek area is a very rugged area known for Black and Brown Bear habitat and hunting. We certainly had our bear sprays strapped on for this hike. We enjoyed the beautiful and rugged scenery there, and we were pleasantly surprised by the magnificent wildflowers there.
Steve stands at the trailhead marker of Trail 100 at Sheep Creek. This Trail 100 connects to the Little Elk Creek Trail 151. These two trails meet at the mountain pond about 3 miles out, where we saw the moose cow and calf a couple weeks ago.
Another steep uphill start on this Trail 100 at Sheep Creek!
Looking back into the valley once we reached a spot where the thick forest parted.
Soon we came upon a Birch or Aspen tree that appeared to be marked with claw marks :-o
The bonus on this hike was the magnificent wildflowers.
A Thistle patch.
Skinny Daiseys
Looking for the flower in focus, it must be in there somewhere.
