Dixieland RV Music Resort, Waldo Florida

We moved in without reservations, saw that the people were friendly and the park was nicely set up and cared for.  We were able to get a great rate and sign in for one month.  While we are here we have already been informed of a giant barbeque, a Bluegrass Jamboree and right at the end of our stay a large local drag race, the Gator Nationals is in session.

There's fish in that pond

We met some good ol' Georgia folks here and can they cook!

Slow Cooker, two 40 lb propane bottles fire this rig!

Results were delicious... two slabs of dry rub baby-back ribs :)

  1. Barbeque, bluegrass and racing! Being a boy from Tennessee, are you sure your in Florida? Wow, and this is just the first stop! Those type of activities are certainly dear to my very nostalgic heart. Glad you made it out of this hard winter. Still cold and miserable here. We're took your advice and shy'd away from buying the first RV we liked. But we'll continue to feed our appetite with window(computer) shopping. I can tell as long as we keep up with your adventures, it'll keep the fire burning until we can commit and 'get rolling'. We were excited to see the latest entry. I have a reputation of "fixing" things. Lisa wants you to know she's asked me to "fix" this. and get our adventure underway. Might be some work involved. We'll see how long it takes. Meanwhile, sorry to hear your heater is broken, but very envious that you don't need it. :-) Lisa and I are lifting a glass to toast you two(as soon as I sign off here), on your successful first "chock" of choice! Take care!

  2. Hey guys, we did fall into a fine first park. We had our first taste of the BBQ with two baby-back rib slabs today. Roger, the guy who cooked them here knows what he is doing, they were great! We highly recommend going to some RV shows and getting inside the different rigs. There will be things that "talk" to you about each rig. Some things you will like, others not so much. It helps sort things out. I also recommend fixing "this" as soon as possible. The stress just melted away for me. :-)

    1. Oh my goodness, just looking at the pictures you have taken and all the cool stuff that you all are doing, and of course the bit about the "stress just melting away" brings tears to my eyes...we are SO very excited and happy for you both...yet SO very envious....yep, we are talking it up more and more...as you know, there are things that we must get done first....I have asked my husband to "fix it"! Anyway, please keep on sharing this awesome adventure with us and please keep on having the time of your lives! Man, could I go for some of the BB ribs right now and one of my absolutely favorite things to do is go fishing! Can't wait to see/hear what it's next on the agenda for y'all! Thinking about you both lots!

    2. Wish you two were here. We highly recommend the snow birding thing. It is great to be in relatively warm weather, just makes life a little easier. The sun make a body happy too. Thanks for cheering us on! We are cheering right back for you two :)

  3. Interesting that you have chosen the Waldo area. I was on the internet looking for a place adjacent to St. Augustine for our trip in June. We may check our the camp you are at. Plan to spend a week or so shopping for a new place to live and will check out the St. A area.
    Happy travels.

  4. Yes, if you like quiet you will like Waldo; we like it that way. The St John's river blocks Waldo from St Aug. Bridges to the north or south. Northern route looks a little shorter. Rt 301 north into Stark and pick up Rt 16 east to St Aug. We shop in Stark, it's about 8 miles from camp.
