Two Boon-docking Nights

We made it to Florida and warmer temperatures.  It has been 75º F since we arrived outside Savannah, GA yesterday at the Sam's Club above in the picture.  We left Horntown, VA on Sunday morning and settled in Waldo, FL on Tuesday afternoon.  The first night, we spent parked in a Cummins-Onan repair facility parking lot in North Carolina waiting for staff to arrive on Monday morning in hopes we could get our furnace fixed.  That was not to be, so we wasted no time and rolled into Savannah late Monday afternoon. It was an easy ride into Florida on Tuesday morning.  The non-functional furnace doesn't seem so important anymore...

  1. Glad you are somewhere warm. I look forward to reading your blog entries with some jealousy.

  2. Would like more info on your failed furnace and why you could not get it repaired. At the nice Cambridge lunch, i thought you reported that the furnace was OK. Just curious.

    1. Bruce, we don't know much about it. It just stopped coming on just before we left Linda's farm. Of course that was when it was 9 ° F! Linda saved the day for us with electric space heaters and an incandescent light bulb for our work light in the wet bay. We opened up the outside cover and found a screwdriver in there :( The thermostat is all surface mount electronics and the furnace has two or three PCBs. I didn't see anything obviously wrong (except the screwdriver) and just buttoned her back up. I suspect we have had some sort of electronic component failure. We hope to be scheduling a mobile RV tech to come by our camp here later this week. Expect to have the work done next week or shortly after. Have hydraulic leveler parts coming in from MI. Lots to do.

  3. We aren't too far behind you. Stayed in NC last night, made it to the Lake Harmony RV Park in Townsend GA tonight. Nice sites on a lake..... may stay a few days before going to Clermont FL. I hope you get your stuff fixed. 55 degrees here but in the 30s on the eastern shore.

  4. Great news Norm! Can you send us a picture and/or written description of your electric tester? I can't quite recall the config you used; I want to make one too.
Safe travels for you & Janet :-)
